Let’s have a look at some related organizations: WTO (World Trade Organization), which promote trading worldwide, WHO (World Health Organization), with the objective of attaining by all peoples of the highest possible level of health, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural Organization), which sharing information of different culture and civilization and so on. The main purpose of setting up these global international organizations is to make our world better and better. All I mentioned above is related to the word — Globalization.
Although this word has a high exposal rate, no matter in newspaper, magazine, internet or even in students textbooks, most of us do not have comprehensive and deep understanding of it, what we know actually is just some combined words and their basic meaning, such as: economic globalization, culture globalization, education globalization, media globalization etc. Somebody think the globalization is westernization or even Americanization. Somebody think globalization is the purpose of solving the global problems, such as environment pollution, terrorism, drug and crime. A study by French and Richards (2000 cited Golding’s 1994), provided a specific summary, listing four key aspects of globalization.
First, the decline of the nation as both a cultural force, where people begin to identify more with supranational cultural affiliations than with those of the nation, as well as the reduction of the role of the nation-state as a political and economic force.
Second, new levels of organization both above, at the supranational level, and below at the regional level, supposedly take over the functions previously performed by national governments.
Third, is what Golding calls the syndicalisation of experience, that is the emergence of major cultural and commercial symbols in the form, most obviously, of internationally traded branded goods.
Finally, he points to the role of major international languages, particularly English, as the vehicle for international culture. Golding’s main purpose is to emphasize that in we are now experiencing cross-cultural communication and this phenomenon is going to continue and becoming more intensive.
It seems that the conception of globalization are various according to authors’ different emphasis. No matter how different the concept is, there is one thing without doubting, that is we live in the world of globalization, which influences our daily life. Exactly like Giddens (1999) wrote in his book “we are being propelled into a global order that no one fully understands, but which is making its effects felt upon all of us.For globalization is not incidental to our lives today. It is a shift in our very life circumstances. It is the ways we now live.

Today I'd like to say sth. about blog in my blog.
In this two years, blog is very popular in internet.
From Wikipedia, the definition of blog is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order...The term "blog" is derived from "Web log." "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual although some focus on photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting), and are part of a wider network of social media.
(From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog. accessed on 5th. Jan. 2007)
In simple terms, a blog is a personal diary. A public diary. Your blog is whatever you want it to be. There are no real rules.
It also very interesting to creat and update your blog. Your can write down sth. about your daily life, share pictures with friends, or discuss particular subject with your peer group. Every person's blog often reflect the personality of the author. Since Blog was launched, blogs have reshaped the web, impacted politics, journalism etc. and enabled millions of people to have a voice and connect with others and even makinf friends. Blog, like online shopping system, is also a new media technologies based on internet. ![]()

I think "new media" is actually an opposite concepts, new and old. New media is continuously changing together with the development of media. Why is can be called new media, because of its latest broadcast carrier. The spreading tool of traditional media are newspaper, radio and television. The spreading carrier of new media, now is internet, the function including words, voice, image, radio, advertising, televison etc.
Compare with newspaper, radio broadcast is new media, television is new media compare with radio, cable-tv and satellite tv are new media when camare with traditional television and internet is new media when compare with television. Nowadays what we called new media is usually a form that is base on computer information technology development but over it.Technology is developing at the speed that we can not image. We don't know what is the next new media, someone said it might be biological media or possiblely be mobilephone.
The world become smaller because of internet. On Aug. 1995 CNN build up its own website, from then on, network television media appears. After that, FOX, ABC, CBS etc. all set up own website. The website of China Central Television (CCTV) was build up under this background. Now CCTV is spreading chinese culture to the world, at the mean time it also exhibit the culture of the world to chinese audience. CCTV website: http://english.cctv.com/index.shtml
Media is becoming globalization, it influences and promotes the development of culture.
